Family permissions

Who sees what, and who can change what. Decide it once when you invite someone — and change it whenever you like.

Only parents and co-parents can invite people or change roles. Everyone else sees what they need to do their part — and nothing more.
The five roles

What each person can see and do.

Parent

Full access. The role for the adults running the family.

  • See and edit everything: kids, schedule, tasks, insights
  • Invite members, change roles and remove people
  • Confirm a day on someone else's behalf
  • Delete events, kids and the family space

Co-parent

The same day-to-day access as a parent.

  • See and edit the full schedule, kids and tasks
  • Invite members and manage assignments
  • Confirm on behalf of others
  • Cannot delete the family space if they didn't create it

Grandparent / Relative

Sees the plan and handles the days they're given.

  • See the family schedule and the kids' basics
  • Confirm or decline their own days
  • See and complete tasks assigned to them
  • Cannot invite people or change roles

Sitter / Nanny

A working view — what's happening and what's theirs.

  • See the family schedule for the children they're helping with
  • Confirm or decline their own drop-offs, pickups and shifts
  • See tasks assigned to them
  • Cannot invite people, change roles or see family insights

Kid

View-only. For older children who want to know the plan.

  • See the family schedule
  • See tasks assigned to them
  • Cannot edit or delete events, or invite anyone
  • Cannot see family administration or insights
Common questions

The bits people ask about.

Who can invite new members?

Parents and co-parents only. Nobody else can add a person or change a role.

Does a sitter see all the children?

A sitter sees the family schedule for the children they're helping with, plus the drop-offs, pickups and shifts assigned to them. They don't see insights, family administration, or the ability to invite anyone.

What happens when someone leaves?

Access ends immediately. Anything they were responsible for stays in the plan and is flagged as needing an owner, so it doesn't silently disappear.

Who owns the family account?

The adult who created it administers it. If they leave, they should hand administration to another adult member first.

Can anyone export the family's information?

Only an adult member — a parent or co-parent — can request an export, and we confirm their identity before sending it. Grandparents, sitters and kids cannot.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. Roles can be changed and members removed at any time from the Family page, and it takes effect immediately.
